Annual McKnight Scholars (UNIV 3413)

South Africa
One significant perk of the McKnight Scholarship program is that it offers scholarship recipients the opportunity to study abroad. The program offers one fully funded opportunity to travel with peers within the program. During the summer of 2025, the McKnight scholars focused on leadership as it was seen and used in South Africa. Students visited sites in Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Kruger National Parl. Students began developing a global leadership mindset, and engage with culturally diverse perspectives on ethical leadership. During the course, students will encounter examples of ethical leadership in the areas of government, history, art, literature, education, culture, international relations, and service in international contexts.This opportunity is exclusive to students enrolled in the McKnight Scholarship program.

Annual President's Leadership Council (UNIV 3423)

Zimbabwe, Africa
Members of the President's Leadership Council (PLC) at OSU have the opportunity to travel to Zimbabwe, Africa and learn from OSU Alumna, Dr. Tererai Trent. During their time in Zimbabwe, students will engage in seminars with Dr. Trent and interact with her work in rural villages, all while gaining insights into global and cultural perspectives on ethical leadership. Additionally, students will visit the breathtaking Victoria Falls waterfall, and tour the towns of Harare and Matau. This opportunity is exclusive to students enrolled in the President's Leadership Council.
